Micha van der Stoop has led IDM Solutions since 2011. He started in 1996 as a network architect at Cisco, where he went on to lead a team of 32 engineers who designed and built Cisco’s internal office networks, from voice to video and from WAN to wireless.
At Shell Global Solutions he spent eight years responsible for the global reference architecture for AV, collaboration and CCTV. The AV design of Prelude FLNG, the largest floating facility ever built, rests on those standards.
IDM now brings that standard of design to integrators, schools, healthcare and smaller businesses.

Common questions
Why does my AV over IP picture stutter or freeze?
Almost always the network. Without IGMP snooping and a querier, a switch sends multicast to every port, uplinks fill up and decoders drop frames. Missing QoS or an undersized uplink causes the same symptoms.
What is IGMP snooping?
A switch feature that tracks which devices have requested a multicast stream, so the switch forwards the stream only to those ports instead of the whole network. For AV over IP it is essential, together with an IGMP querier per VLAN.
How much bandwidth does a 4K stream need?
On Visionary AV 5-Series, up to 800 Mbps per 4K stream, up to 400 Mbps for 1080p and up to 200 Mbps for 720p. Work it out per uplink before you choose switches.
Can you deliver equipment preconfigured?
Yes. Integrators can have bundles delivered preconfigured, so on site they only need to install. Where it helps, we provide services under your label.
Do you only work with large organisations?
No. We design for the largest organisations and the smallest, and security starts at a few euros per user per month.
